Who are we?

Shri Jeet Handicap Service Center is a 501( c) (3) organization, established in the year 2001. Based in Rural Nepal in Morang District, we are tirelessly working towards building a better livelihood for children with disabilities in rural Nepal. We aren’t only striving to give these children education, special training, security and a healthy living, but we strongly advocate for the rights to the same for children with special needs.

We are also a participant in Child Development Center, wherein in collaboration with fellow organizations, we facilitate the center monetarily or via handing down of goods and services. The center allows children in the ages of 3-6 years to get basic education and socialization opportunities. The center is open to all.

STANDING FOR THE DISABLED AND POOR CHILDREN

Helping Children

Our immediate goal at Shri Jeet Handicap Service Center is to help the disabled children that are in dire need of it. We at the organization know that a little help and a little love goes a long way in circumstances like this. We actively identify disabled children that need our help the most and get on to it immediately. Our experience has taught us that through empowering, collaborating and learning together we can build a sustainable future for children with disabilities.

Ensuring Better Life

Disabled kids in rural Nepal go uncared for especially because the parents and the society don’t see them have a fruitful future. Add to that the poor economy, and the rudimentary mindset is to care less for these kids. These kids usually grow up with not only physical but emotional disadvantages as well. Most of the time, they are thought as less of a person and bullied, which results in mental trauma and psychological illness. At Shri Jeet Handicap Service Center we are not only striving to save the children from such traumatizing atmosphere, but prevent such atmosphere from ever being created. Our sole aim is to create a disable-friendly society so that the children could have a chance at better livelihood.

Education for all

Rip children off education and their future will be directionless. Do the same to children with disability and their future is lost forever. Research has shown that when children with disabilities aren’t provided education, it also strips them off of any socialization with peers, leading them to isolation and psychological illness. At Shri Jeet Handicap Service Center, we are not only working towards providing education, both vocational and basic, to children with disability but also battling social norms and attitudes that go against education for the disabled.

Food and Shelter

Sometimes it is the very basic need that children are deprived of. A healthy meal three times a day and a warm shelter goes a long way in shaping the minds and bodies of disabled children. Shri Jeet Handicap Service Center is adamant to ensure that the needy are met with their basic needs. The children under our roof are given healthy, nutritional meal that is core to the strength of the special children. They have a warm bed to go to in the cold of the evening and a place to call home, friends to be called family. We are also constantly pursuing to reach more kids and families with disabled kids, to not only help them with food but to also educate them of the need of healthy meals for handicapped kids.

Employment Opportunity

A dignified life for handicap children cannot be achieved until they can earn a living for themselves. In the last 14 years that Shri Jeet Handicap Service Center has been on the mission to save handicap children, we as an organization have grown and learned each day. Creating employment opportunity for our children is a difficult task, but not impossible. In collaboration with local organizations and training centers, we provide disabled children with skill-based training that is instrumental in allowing them to earn their living independently.

Make Them Independent

It is the crux of our organization to give disabled children in rural Nepal a chance at independent living. But they cannot learn independence until we let them go. It is crucial to let all the young disabled children to know that achieving independence is possible. Although sometimes physically they might need support and be dependent, we at Shri Jeet Handicap Service Center try and make them independent in different ways. Working together with psychologist and physical trainers, we identify what a kid excels at and try to magnify the particular sector. Independence for these kids isn’t easy, but it isn’t impossible either.
